Charlotte Warren

Mayor, City of Hallowell

Charlotte Warren currently serves as the Associate Director of the Maine Women's Lobby team.  Her responsibilities include planning and conducting membership outreach and communications strategies for the organizations, along with managing efforts to recruit and retain new members and activists.  Her experience includes over 10 years as a Mathematics adjunct faculty member as well as a Math / Science Learning Specialist at Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC), working to increase the success of first-generation and low-income students and students with disabilities.

Through her advocacy and education work, Charlotte started to feel a more compelling desire to get involved in local elected politics.  She found the Emerge Maine training as her next outlet for political engagement.  As a teacher, she is "very sensitive to the way things are taught or presented," and refers to the Emerge approach as  "interactive community education." She learned so much throughout the training, and "all the information provided was enriched by experienced women."  Now on the campaign trail, she finds herself pulling out her Emerge binder  for tips "at least once a week."

Charlotte has served on the Hallowell City Council for over six years and has been the City Council President since April 2007. She serves as Chair of the Downtown Streetlight Committee and the Vaughan Field Committee. She is a member of the Waterfront Advisory, Health and Welfare, and Claims Committees. She also serves on the Hallowell Food Bank's Board of Directors.

Charlotte earned a Master of Science in Adult Education from the University of Southern Maine in 2004 and a Master of Social Work in Organizational & Community Practice from the University of New England.
